Vino Di Anna - Qvevri 2014

Qvevri 2014 is floral and expressive, with Morello cherry aromas and flavours. The palate has a fresh acidity, is well balanced and has a fine, textural structure.

The three 2014 Qvevri wines are made in Georgian Qvevris that were handmade by one of the few remaining Qvevri makers, Zaaliko Bodjadze. He lives near the village of Makatubani, about two hours west of Tbilisi sourcing the clay high in the Caucasus Mountains. The Vino di Anna “Qvevri” 2014 wine is a blend of wines made in numerous Qvevris. Old-vine Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Alicante were hand harvested and destemmed into several Qvevris. Fermentation was conducted by indigenous yeasts. Upon completion the qvevris were closed and left to macerate. The wines were macerated for different lengths of time depending on the vineyard and grapes. After pressing the wines were blended and returned to qvevris until bottling in September 2015. The wine was bottled without fining or filtering.
